How to make these minimalist tree ornaments

Tree ornaments are fun to make to make! Whether it’s girls nights, family night, or just a fun DIY to do while you’re stuck inside due to cold cold weather. Not to mention, a handmade tree ornament is a very thoughtful way to gift someone during the Christmas season!

What you’ll need

  1. Either air dry clay or polymer clay that you bake in the oven. I used some of both.

  2. A roller

  3. Some cookie cutters

  4. Mod Podge, a paint brush, some gold glitter and some painters tape.

  • A stamp pad and some rubber letter stamps Directions

    1. 1. Take either some air dry clay or some polymer clay and roll it out with your roller. I laid some parchment paper down to roll mine on because the clay doesn’t stick to it and makes the process a lot easier.

    1. Take some cookie cutters and cut some different shapes into the clay to make your ornaments.

    1. 2. Take a large needle or you can use a toothpick and make a hole somewhere in the ornament for hanging.

    1. 3. Once you’ve cut your ornaments and made a hole in them either bake them (if you used polymer clay) or let them dry (if you’re using air dry clay). I prefer polymer clay because you can bake it and you’re ready to continue in 20 to 30 minutes with the rest of the project. With air dry clay you will have to wait 1-3 days for the clay to dry completely. Either way, once it’s dry take the painters tape and tape off the sections where you want to add glitter.

    1. 4. Then paint the section you wanted glittered with mod Podge and sprinkle the glitter on top of it.

    1. 5. Once the mod Podge is dry (about 15 to 20 minutes) you can remove the tape. Once you’ve finished this step, you will get the stamps out. Use the ink pad and the stamps to stamp on Christmas and Holiday messages onto your ornaments!

6. As you can see (the baby wipes sitting beside my ornaments) baby wipes are good for wiping off any mistakes you may make along the way.

All finished

These are adorable minimalist tree ornaments for your tree or to gift someone for their tree!
